FROM THE PASTOR

The mind of man plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.  Proverbs 16:9(NAS)

This is the time when many people will make “resolutions”

concerning improvements in the new year they will strive for.

Most people resolve to do things which are constructive and beneficial

that will improved their quality of life. But physical life is fragile, uncertain and short.

Thus, the best resolution is temporary.

My personal goal is to be a better husband, father, grandfather and pastor.

But if I rely upon my own human strength to accomplish my goal, my efforts will be in vain.

I have learned over the years that no matter how good my attentions are,

if the Lord does not direct my steps all that I attempt is futile.

This includes the vision I have for our church.

I have such a desire for our church to prosper in 2011 and beyond.

The New Worship Center is only a beginning of a new ministry;

not the completion of an old project.

As we look forward to worshipping in the new facility

that God has blessed us with on the first Sunday in February,

remember that it was the Lord who built the house.

Otherwise, our labor was in vain (Psalm 127:1).

We will officially dedicate our New Worship Center,

the fourth Sunday, February 27th, 2011, at 4:00 pm.

Greater New Piney Grove of Atlanta will be our guest church.

Their pastor, Dr. William Flippin, was the one God

used to initiate the vision.

Five nights (the number for grace), of victory celebration

will follow the dedication  beginning on

Monday, February 28th, through Friday, March 4th.

Guest churches will be announced at a later date.

In the meanwhile, I plan on having several training sessions.

But as Proverbs 16:9 says, I can plan all I want to,

but it is the Lord who must direct my steps, if we are to be successful.

And guess what? Each of you are a big part of our church’s success.

We are asking those who can to fast on Wednesdays of each week.

January’s fast  is for God to give us a genuine Love for Him.

If ye love me, keep my commandments ….John 14:15 (KJV)

As you fast, remember you must also pray;

the two together will give us great power

as we watch God move in our church.

Deacon’s Corner –

From Deacon James Monroe

Judging Others

We as Christians are quick to judge our brothers and sisters.

God did not give us the gift of judging others, that is His job.

He gave us the gift of Loving and Caring for all of

His children and that is a big job, if we as Christians

do what the Lord commands us to do.

Matthew 7:1-2   Do not judge, or you too will be judged.

2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged,

and with the measure you use, it will be measure to you.

L.U.I.

(Living Under the Influence)

Excerpts taken from L.U.I.

 by Daniel Fagan

No matter where you are or what you are going through,...

In everything give thanks for this is the will of

God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thess. 5:18)

What are the things that we are being influenced by?

The Bible teaches us in 1 John 2:15

Do not love the world or the things in the world.

We fail to maintain our balance when we are L. U. I.

We are persuaded to take on more to please other people.

We fake it until we make it. ... We won’t say “no” when

it is truly in order. We’re always trying to look good

for everyone else, only to lose our balance on the journey.

In order to correct this, we need a designated

driver..the Holy Spirit. He will lead, guide,

and keep us on this journey. Give Him the keys

and the wheel and accept Him as Lord and Savior.

You can be assured you will not be living under the influence,

caused by the pressures of this world.

The serene silent beauty of a holy life is

the most powerful influence in the world,

next to the might of God.“

The Timeline of Bill Wilson Evidence

6. The recorded activities of Bill’s maternal grandfather,

Fayette Griffith Grandpa Fayette was a regular reader of the Bible.

He read it with Bill Wilson and encouraged Bill’s own reading and Bible study.

Bill’s family moved from East Dorset to Rutland, both towns in Vermont.

But when marital problems arose, Bill and his sister were returned to

East Dorset where they lived with the Griffiths.

And Grandpa Fayette enrolled Bill in the Congregational Sunday school.

7. The religious training at Burr and Burton Academy in Manchester,

Vermont (1909-1913)  Grandpa Fayette encouraged Bill’s

attendance at the nearby Burr and Burton Academy.

Bill took the required four-year Bible study course.

Bill regularly attended the required daily chapel services where

Scripture was read and sermons were delivered. Once each week,

Bill attended the required church service at Manchester Congregational Church

where Burr and Burton Academy owned a pew reserved for use by its students.

Finally, Bill became president of the Burr and Burton YMCA;

and Bill’s girl friend Bertha Bamford became president of the Burr and Burton YWCA.

The two attended chapel together and participated in the “Y” activities.

Shortly before graduation time, Bill’s girl friend unexpectedly died.

Bill went into a deep depression, and he turned away from God and religion.

Someone once said...

EXPLANATION  OF GOD

'One of God's main jobs is making people.. He makes them

to replace the ones that die, so there will be enough people

o take care of things on earth. He doesn't make grownups, just babies.

I think because they are smaller and easier to make.

That way he doesn't have to take up his valuable time teaching them to talk and walk.

He can just leave that to mothers and fathers.'

 (Mat 28:19 NKJV)

Give us a watchword for the hour, A thrilling word, a word of power;

A battle cry, a flaming breath, A call to conquest or the death;

A word to rouse the church from rest, To heed the Master’s high behest.

The call is given, ye hosts arise, The watchword is EVANGELIZE!

To fallen men, and dying race, Make known the gift of gospel grace.

The world that now in darkness lies, O Church of Christ, EVANGELIZE!
